Think it’s important for people to know. Not sure what the genetic predisposition is percentage wise. My guess based on real life experience is 25-30% if one parent is and 50-75% if other parent is the offspring of one.

We aren't going to get rid of them. So it's up to the rest of us to learn the lesson this dynamic offers. Which is a REALLY important lesson right now: Do not ever give your power over to another or to an external story. Do not allow external opinions to sway your own energy. CHOOSE where to put your energy. CHOOSE how you show up and what emotions you hold. You are a sovereign being. That's it. My story is long painful and complicated. It involves my 55 yr old daughter, my 24 yr old grandson and myself a female widowed age 77. Since the death of my loving husband 8 yrs ago, my daughter has been treating her fatherless son as her little busband. She began a cycle of blaming me for everything. After completely abandonnng me, erasing me for 6 whole years following her father's death, turning my only beloved grandson away from me , giving me the silent treatment while living in my own home, I received an email from my daughter around May 16 2026 begging me to call her, that she had a tax evasion warrant against her. she cried , told me what a fuck up she was, I love you Mom, sorry Mom etc etc. I dont know if a person with little money can be jailed for non payment, but I was so glad to hear from her and immediately covered 14,500 dollars, the entire state tax bill. I did not want my daughter to be jailed or be losing the condo I bought her when she had zero place to go. I bought a plane ticket to visit her for one week. One friend thought I should only do 3 days. But I missed having my daughter in my life and was overjoyed with idea of a reunion, of a new beginning.The rest of the story is sad too. It turns out that her son and herself had a fight and after dislocating his shoulder left her to go and live with his two friends. During the first 3 days, sbe showered me with outings, gave me little presents, to show how much she loves me. Then she proceeded to find things that annoyed her in me. I am still mad at myself for arguing with her.
She is clearly the victim and I am the abuser who rescued her so many times especially financially. My sister reminded me just before I left for the reunion not to enable her. I thought I was strong enough not to do that. She makes me feel pity for her and I give in by giving her what she wants most from me: $$$$$$.
I congratulate myself for the sudden clarity of mind yesterday morning. I quickly packed my suitcase and left in the midst of her rage and accusations of all minds. I would gladly give her the money loan she cleverly requested but why does she have to demolish and put me down first? Maybe she is also an untreated bipolar in addition to being a clever manipulator! I saw the pattern re emerge yesterday morning. It took me so long!! Today, I forwardec your writing to my grandson who is strong but angry and confused at his .other's evil ways.
Awwww - I feel you - this is such a tough situation and you must feel so disappointed. She may have any number of issues and its not your fault she nitpicks, alienates and makes you feel you need to protect yourself. Just stand your square and set boundaries and if she comes around in a way that works for you, then great, if not, just know you did your best and can always try to be there to reach out to the grandkid who's also fighting with her and disillusioned. Instead of try to wake him up to her toxicity which may not be understood at first unless he's super open to it - it may help to just let him know you really want to support him as family and be in his life regardless of any mom issues - and yes its good to explain why and how you do NOT think she's normal if causing such drama - but the best healing will come by showing that you are here for him and want the relationship to grow stronger! If you unwaveringly try to be awesome and in his life it may break walls down and open more dialogue and connection. I pray for you and your family to heal this curse and for whatever is going on with her to simmer down : ) NO enabling anyone who makes you feel demolished and put down no matter who they are! After completely abandonnng me, erasing me for 6 whole years following her father's death, turning my only beloved grandson away from me , giving me the silent treatment while living in my own home, I received an email from my daughter around May 16 2026 begging me to call her, that she had a tax evasion warrant against her. she cried , told me what a fuck up she was, I love you Mom, sorry Mom etc etc. I dont know if a person with little money can be jailed for non payment, but I was so glad to hear from her and immediately covered 14,500 dollars, the entire state tax bill. I did not want my daughter to be jailed or be losing the condo I bought her when she had zero place to go. I bought a plane ticket to visit her for one week. One friend thought I should only do 3 days. But I missed having my daughter in my life and was overjoyed with idea of a reunion, of a new beginning.The rest of the story is sad too. It turns out that her son and herself had a fight and after dislocating his shoulder left her to go and live with his two friends. During the first 3 days, sbe showered me with outings, gave me little presents, to show how much she loves me. Then she proceeded to find things that annoyed her in me. I am still mad at myself for arguing with her.
She is clearly the victim and I am the abuser who rescued her so many times especially financially. My sister reminded me just before I left for the reunion not to enable her. I thought I was strong enough not to do that. She makes me feel pity for her and I give in by giving her what she wants most from me: $$$$$$.
I congratulate myself for the sudden clarity of mind yesterday morning. I quickly packed my suitcase and left in the midst of her rage and accusations of all minds. I would gladly give her the money loan she cleverly requested but why does she have to demolish and put me down first? Maybe she is also an untreated bipolar in addition to being a clever manipulator! I saw the pattern re emerge yesterday morning. It took me so long!! Today, I forwardec your writing to my grandson who is strong but angry and confused at his .other's evil ways.
Awwww - I feel you - this is such a tough situation and you must feel so disappointed. She may have any number of issues and its not your fault she nitpicks, alienates and makes you feel you need to protect yourself. Proud of you for your sudden clarity and putting your own needs above the need to reconnect, even if it's your very own offspring. I really do pray things get better and you can connect more to the grandson! Just stand your square and set boundaries and if she comes around in a way that works for you, then great, if not, just know you did your best and can always try to be there to reach out to the grandkid who's also fighting with her and disillusioned. Instead of try to wake him up to her toxicity which may not be understood at first unless he's super open to it - it may help to just let him know you really want to support him as family and be in his life regardless of any mom issues - and yes its good to explain why and how you do NOT think she's normal if causing such drama - but the best healing will come by showing that you are here for him and want the relationship to grow stronger! If you unwaveringly try to be awesome and in his life it may break walls down and open more dialogue and connection. I pray for you and your family to heal this curse and for whatever is going on with her to simmer down : ) NO enabling anyone who makes you feel demolished and put down no matter who they are! Put the energy into the grandkid, wise sister and yourself and just stay steady and real. The feelings and problems are real. There are problems and also soul-utions! You can focus where the energy can be best used and protect your energy where it feels draining and out of sorts! Big big hugs!
